Goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov has made the move from Aberdeen to St Pauli, a club in Germany’s second tier. The 29-year-old Bulgarian transfers for an undisclosed fee following 78 appearances with the Dons, including a memorable performance during their 2025 Scottish Cup victory, where he saved two penalties in the shoot-out.

Manager Stephen Robinson praised Mitov’s contributions to Aberdeen, stating, “Dimi has made a significant contribution to Aberdeen and, during my time at the club, he has carried himself with the utmost professionalism and been a real leader both on and off the pitch.” He acknowledged Mitov’s desire for a new challenge and expressed that the offer from St Pauli aligned with the club’s valuation, making it a mutually beneficial deal.

“Of course, you never want to lose good players, but we respect Dimi’s ambition and this is a good opportunity for him at this stage of his career,” Robinson added.

Mitov, who has earned 15 caps for his national team, joined the Dons in the summer of 2024 after a standout season with St Johnstone.

Mitov, capped 15 times, moved to Pittodrie in the summer of 2024 after an impressive campaign with St Johnstone.
