Dusan Vlahovic has officially signed with Besiktas after his contract with Juventus expired. Following his departure, Vlahovic expressed his sentiments on social media, stating, “I arrived with the desire to become part of Juventus history. I leave knowing Juventus will forever be part of mine.”

The Serbian striker had technically left the Bianconeri when his contract came to an end on June 30.

While there had been some hope for Vlahovic to negotiate a new contract at a significantly reduced salary from the €12 million he earned in his last season, those prospects diminished with the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite interest from clubs like Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, and Milan, those options did not come to fruition, leading Vlahovic to accept Besiktas’ offer.

Vlahovic is set to reunite with his former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano. A formal statement confirmed that he will earn €7.5 million per season, plus performance-related bonuses.

These financial incentives are anticipated to bring Vlahovic’s total earnings to around €10 million annually.

Following the announcement from Besiktas, Vlahovic took to social media to bid farewell to Juventus.

In his farewell message, Vlahovic reflected on his time with Juventus, saying, “There are moments when finding the right words is difficult. And this is one of them. When I arrived in Turin I had a huge dream, a great desire to prove who I was, and the pride of wearing a jersey that carries with it an incredible history.”

He added, “My journey with Juventus has come to an end. They have been intense years. Years of victories, goals, immense joy, but also difficult moments. But I have always tried to give my all, every time I stepped onto the pitch.”

Vlahovic expressed deep gratitude for the club, its fans, and the city of Turin, stating, “Thank you to Juventus, Andrea Angelli, John Elkann, and the entire family, all the people who work behind the scenes every day, my coaches, and especially my teammates. We shared much more than 90 minutes on a football pitch. Some moments will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

He concluded, “I leave Turin with so many memories, with gratitude, and with the knowledge that I left a part of myself here. I arrived with the desire to become part of Juventus’ history. I leave knowing that Juventus will forever be a part of mine. Thank you, Juve. Thank you, Turin. Thank you all. Fino alla fine. Dusan.”

Vlahovic had transferred to Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022 for a fee of €85.4 million, ultimately achieving a record of 68 goals and 16 assists in 168 competitive matches for the club.

There had been some slender hope that he could negotiate a new deal at a far lower salary than the €12m per season he was earning in his final campaign, but that practically evaporated once Randal Kolo Muani arrived from Paris Saint-Germain.

Instead, with offers from Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Milan simply not materialising, he eventually accepted the proposal from Besiktas.

These are widely expected to eventually net the Serbian around €10m per year.

With the announcement completed at Besiktas, Vlahovic took to social media to say goodbye to Juventus.
