Reading’s manager Leam Richardson has expressed complete confidence in the club’s ownership to bring in players essential for the team’s push for promotion from League One this season.

Club owner Rob Couhig recently stated on BBC Radio Berkshire that the club would be proactive in the final weeks of the transfer window as new prospects arise.

He openly stated his determination for the club to be promoted and assured that Richardson has his full support for the upcoming season.

The Royals will kick off their league campaign at home against Luton Town this Saturday.

“Everyone’s optimistic and really looking forward to the start,” Richardson noted to BBC Radio Berkshire.

“We understand the current status of the squad and have engaged in numerous discussions to ensure we recruit the right talents this summer.

“I have full confidence in the ownership group and co-CEO Joe (Jacobson), and I believe that when the transfer window closes, we will have the necessary players and depth to meet our challenges.”

Last season, Reading finished in 12th place in League One after Richardson took over from Noel Hunt in late October.

Following his first pre-season with the team, Richardson aims for the squad to progress and strive for Couhig’s ambition for a promotion push.

“Everyone at the club is aware of our goals,” Richardson commented.

“This season, we will work diligently and professionally to ensure we represent every single Reading fan, as we recognize the quality of this club.

“I am genuinely optimistic and eager to reconnect with the supporters, and I look forward to what this season holds.

“We will need their support, just as they will need us to deliver performances and results that they can rally behind.”

Reading finished 12th in League One last season after Richardson arrived in late October, taking over from Noel Hunt.

With a first pre-season with the squad under his belt, he is hoping they can now kick on as they look to achieve Couhig’s target of a promotion push.

“All of us at the club know what we want to achieve,” Richardson added.

“This season we’ll try to do that wholeheartedly with hard work and professionalism and try to represent every single Reading fan because we know how good this club is.

“I’m really positive and excited to see the supporters again and I’m really excited to see what is to come this season.

“We need their support as they will need us to give them performances and results to get behind as well.”
