Pedri Follows Individual Training Plan as FC Barcelona Prepares for New Season

After joining FC Barcelona’s pre-season training this past Wednesday, midfielder Pedri is following a specific plan designed to manage his physical workload. The player from the Canary Islands spent his initial two days working in the gym at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, before starting to work with the ball on the pitch this Saturday, according to a report by Mundo Deportivo.

    A gradual return

From a physical preparation perspective, Pedri received advice to begin his first few days in the gym, training separately from his teammates. This individualized strategy aims to facilitate his ideal adaptation post-World Cup. Currently, Pedri remains in separate training sessions, indicating he is unlikely to travel to Basel for the upcoming friendly match against the Swiss side.

Barcelona’s coaching staff currently do not express any concern regarding Pedri’s physical condition. Nevertheless, the La Liga champions have decided to adhere to this tailored program.

    No concerns about fitness

The Spanish players who participated in the World Cup rejoined the Barcelona squad this week. All players, with the exception of Pedri, have begun working with the team. The club reassures that they are not worried about the midfielder’s fitness and that he trains apart from the group solely because of his individual program.

While Pedri may miss the match against Basel, the coaching team hopes he will be available for the final pre-season fixture next week against Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy match.

Barcelona’s campaign to defend their La Liga title starts in a little over a week against Elche, with the expectation that Pedri will be ready to play when that time arrives. Alongside Pedri, the team welcomes goalkeeper Eder Aller, who takes the place of Aron Yaakobishvili as he awaits the finalization of his transfer to Almería.

From a purely physical preparation standpoint, Pedri was advised to start his first few days in the gym and train separately from the group.

It was simply an individualized plan designed to ensure his ideal adaptation after the World Cup.

Pedri is still training separately from the group, which means everything points toward him not travelling to Basel for the friendly against the Swiss side.

    No concerns about fitness

The Spanish contingent rejoined the Barça squad this week after their World Cup triumph, and all players, except Pedri, have already begun working with the rest of the group.

As reported previously, though, the Catalan giants insist that there are no concerns with the midfield maestro’s fitness at this point, and he is only working away from the group because he is on an individual programme.

While he might not be a part of the game against Basel in the upcoming game, Hansi Flick & co. will hope to have the Spanish international available for their final pre-season game next week, when they take on Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy match.

Barcelona kick off the defence of their La Liga title in a little over a week when they take on Elche, and the hope will be that Pedri ready to start when the moment arrives.

Alongside Pedri, the main new face in the group was goalkeeper Eder Aller.

The reserve-team shot-stopper took the place of Aron Yaakobishvili, who was given permission to miss the session while he awaits the completion of his transfer to Almería.
