Former Swansea City forward Andy Robinson has labeled Hull City’s offer of around £10 million for striker Zan Vipotnik as “pathetic.”

The Swans turned down the Tigers’ bid for the Slovenia international, who topped the Championship scoring charts with 23 goals last season.

Speaking as a pundit on BBC Sport Wales, Robinson expressed that Vipotnik’s true worth is at least twice the amount Hull proposed. “Hopefully we can keep Vipotnik because his goals are quite phenomenal. He scored 25 goals in all competitions last year,” he commented during his discussion on BBC Radio Wales Sport.

“£10 million for the player who finished as top scorer in the Championship is pathetic. It’s absolutely pathetic to even start discussing that,” he continued. “I think the valuation will be around £20 million to £25 million.”

Vipotnik participated in his team’s recent 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Saturday, assisting Joseph Opoku’s 22nd-minute equalizer at bet365 Stadium. He was substituted in the 65th minute for Adam Idah, who scored decisively with his first touch, securing three points for Vitor Matos’ squad.

Regardless of Vipotnik’s future with the club as the summer transfer deadline approaches, Robinson noted that Swansea finds itself in a robust position. “From behind the scenes, we’re hearing that everything is quite positive regarding the financial situation,” he explained.

“We have [Melker] Widell who can play in behind as a false nine, [Moussa] Yeo’s come in, and there are still options available,” he added.

Robinson also mentioned Ross Stewart, stating that if he can perform well this season, he will be a valuable asset, as his capabilities at this level are well-known. “They’ve managed business effectively behind the scenes,” he said. “If Vipotnik chooses to leave or if the board decides to sell him, £10 million is simply unacceptable. At that price, he has to stay at the football club and continue to score goals.”

Regardless of whether or not Vipotnik remains at the club beyond the summer transfer deadline, Robinson believes Swansea are in a strong position.

“For Swansea City, we’re hearing from behind the scenes that it’s alright, it’s quite rosy in terms of the financial situation,” he added.

“We’ve got [Melker] Widell who can play in behind as a false nine, [Moussa] Yeo’s come in, there are still options there.

“[Ross] Stewart who has come in as well, if we can get him punching this season, we’ve got a player on our hands, we know what he can do at this level of football.

“They’ve done business well behind the scenes.

“If he (Vipotnik) did decide to go or the board decide to sell him, but for £10m, it’s pathetic. At that, he’s got to stay at the football club and he’s going to keep scoring goals hopefully.”
