Liverpool target Bradley Barcola did not feature in Paris Saint-Germain’s squad as they faced a narrow defeat against Lens during the French Super Cup.
Barcola has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer, as Liverpool reportedly considers a bid close to £100 million for the 23-year-old forward.
Despite his lack of participation, Barcola has drawn interest from Arsenal and remained an unused substitute during PSG’s Super Cup victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Without Barcola’s contributions on Sunday, PSG succumbed to a 1-0 loss, with Lens’ Florian Thauvin netting the match’s only goal in the 32nd minute, tapping in after Matthieu Udol’s mis-hit shot.
In a significant twist, Lens played most of the match with ten players after teenage defender Kyllian Antonio received a straight red card in the 39th minute for a reckless challenge on Maghnes Akliouche. PSG faced further challenges as substitute Nuno Mendes also received a red card later in the game after coming on to replace Lucas Digne.
