    Former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Mike Bailey has passed away at the age of 84 after a long illness.

    The midfielder, who earned two caps for England, began his career at Charlton Athletic before joining Molineux in 1966.

    During his time with Wolves, he made 436 appearances and netted 25 goals, helping the team lift the League Cup in 1974 following their UEFA Cup final appearance two years earlier.

    In his last season at the club, he played a key role in their promotion back to the top flight.

    Bailey later had a brief tenure in the North American Soccer League (NASL) with the Minnesota Kicks before returning to England to serve as player-manager for Hereford.

    He subsequently managed Charlton, Brighton, Greek side OFI, and the non-league club Leatherhead.

    Former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Mike Bailey has died at the age of 84 after a long illness.
