Genoa Secures Loan Deal for Striker Evan Ferguson from Brighton

Genoa and Brighton have finalized a loan agreement for Evan Ferguson, the Republic of Ireland striker who is set to make a return to Serie A.

According to Sky Sport, Brighton will cover 30% of Ferguson’s wages during the loan period, but he is not expected to be available for play until early October.

The move marks Ferguson’s third loan in two years, as he has frequently been loaned out since making his mark at Brighton. His recent history includes a challenging spell at West Ham in early 2025 and a season with Roma last year, where an ankle injury hampered his performance, resulting in just 16 league appearances and three goals.

Under the leadership of Daniele De Rossi, Genoa has actively sought a recognized centre-forward after suffering from player departures that left the squad thin in that position. The club is willing to exercise patience as Ferguson recovers, aiming to harness the potential of a player who was once hailed as one of the Premier League’s most promising young strikers.

Genoa and Brighton have reached an agreement over a loan move for Evan Ferguson, with the Republic of Ireland striker set for a return to Serie A.

According to Sky Sport, the deal will see Ferguson join on loan with Brighton covering 30% of his wages, and he isn’t expected to be available until early October.

Ferguson set for third loan in two years

The move continues a pattern for the Irishman, who has been farmed out repeatedly since establishing himself at Brighton, following a difficult spell at West Ham in early 2025 and a season at Roma last year, where an ankle injury limited him to 16 league appearances and just three goals.

Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa have been searching for a recognised centre-forward after a summer of departures left the club short up front, and are prepared to be patient with Ferguson’s recovery in the hope of getting the best of a player once considered one of the Premier League’s brightest young strikers.
