Guernsey FC Holds Crawley Down Gatwick to a Draw in Thrilling Encounter

Guernsey FC preserved their unbeaten record in the Southern Combination Premier Division, fighting back twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Crawley Down Gatwick.

The match kicked off with the home team taking an early advantage, as Will Harley found the net just seven minutes in, curling a shot past Guernsey goalkeeper Seb Sheppard after a well-coordinated counter-attack from the right.

Twenty-five minutes into the match, James Laws nearly extended Crawley’s lead, but his effort narrowly missed. Meanwhile, Guernsey’s Will Fazakerley and Callum Le Lacheur created opportunities, yet the Green Lions went into halftime trailing by one goal.

Guernsey drew level six minutes after the break when Sam Murray connected with Charlton Gauvain’s cross, allowing Jamie Dodd to push the ball over the line at the far post.

However, the hosts quickly regained the lead just four minutes later. Archie Drillot’s back-pass fell short and was intercepted by Harley, leading to a well-placed finish from substitute Callum Kilkenny just moments after his entry onto the field.

Crawley nearly extended their advantage as Harley struck the post in the 62nd minute, following another mistake from Guernsey.

The situation worsened for Guernsey when Murray had to leave the field due to injury midway through the second half. Despite this setback, Fazakerley managed to level the score again with only 13 minutes remaining by capitalizing on a rebound from a shot saved by a Crawley defender.

The match concluded with both teams sharing the points, maintaining Guernsey FC’s unbeaten status this season.

Guernsey FC maintained their unbeaten start to their Southern Combination Premier Division season as they twice came from a goal down to draw 2-2 at Crawley Down Gatwick.

The hosts took a seventh-minute lead when Will Harley curled past Seb Sheppard after some neat passing following a counter-attack down the right.

James Laws went close to doubling the lead 25 minutes later before Will Fazakerley and Callum Le Lacheur had chances for the Green Lions as they went into the break a goal down.

But the Green Lions levelled six minutes after the break as Sam Murray nodded on Charlton Gauvain’s cross from the right and Jamie Dodd was able to bundle the ball home at the far post.

The hosts were back in front just four minutes later as Archie Drillot’s weak back-pass was picked up by Harley and substitute Callum Kilkenny finished well moments after coming on.

Another Guernsey error almost let Harley in for his second seven minutes later, but the forward struck the post.

It looked as though Guernsey’s evening would get worse after Murray went off injured midway through the second half.

But his strike partner Fazakerley levelled the scores with 13 minutes left as he reacted quickest when substitute Dylan Graham’s shot was saved.
