Headline: Liverpool Looks to Strengthen Squad as Transfer Window Closes

Liverpool FC faces significant challenges ahead of the upcoming season, as the club continues to seek improvements for its squad. Although three new players have joined the team, further additions are necessary to enhance their roster.

Andoni Iraola’s tactical approach is expected to maximize player potential with a 4-2-3-1 formation, offering greater stability and relentless energy on the pitch. However, if the team does not address current weaknesses before the transfer deadline, improving on last season’s performance may prove elusive.

Reports suggest that the club is exploring deals for Paris Saint-Germain players Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola, who are set to be displaced by PSG’s new signings under manager Luis Enrique. Although these deals seem imminent, Liverpool should consider additional backup options to mitigate any unforeseen complications.

As the transfer deadline approaches, the urgency for decision-making increases. Clubs must act quickly to finalize their strategies, and it appears Richard Hughes may need to contemplate alternative options.

Recent insights from journalist Santi Aouna imply that Liverpool might pursue Igor Paixao, a player who has previously caught their attention. Aouna noted that “OM expects to be approached by a Saudi club for Igor Paixão before the end of the transfer window,” with Franck McCourt reportedly valuing the Brazilian at €50 million.

Igor Paixao was on Liverpool’s shortlist in the past

Arne Slot’s tenure as manager saw several of his former players linked with a move to Anfield, including Lutsharel Geertruida, Paixao, and Mats Wieffer. Although their chances of joining the Reds may have diminished since Slot’s departure, these players continue to demonstrate their talent and could fit well within the squad.

Paixao has emerged as one of Marseille’s standout attackers in recent seasons, contributing to 18 goals across all competitions. His caliber suggests that a €50 million (£42.75 million) deal would represent a significant opportunity for Liverpool. While fans remain hopeful for the successful completion of the Barcola and Mbaye transfers, considering the “extraordinary” Brazilian as a viable alternative could be a strategic move for the club.

Liverpool still have a lot of work that they need to do to their squad.

While the three players that have been brought in will certainly help, the Reds still need a few more to be added to their ranks.

Indeed, Andoni Iraola’s style of play will probably help get the most out of them as it’ll mean that they never stop running and, with the 4-2-3-1 formation, they’ll probably have a little bit more stability.

However, without all of their problem areas being addressed this summer, there’s no way that they’ll do better than they did last term.

Many players have already been linked with an Anfield switch but now, it feels like some old moves for other players could start cropping up again.

At the moment, deals for Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola seem to be just around the corner.

The Paris Saint-Germain duo are being replaced by all the new signings that Luis Enrique is making this summer.

And, while that double deal seems all but done, it’s still a good idea for the Reds to have a couple of different back-up options in case things go south.

Of course, now that we’re edging closer to deadline day, moves will need to be made soon so, if Richard Hughes is going to change course, he should really be thinking about doing it now.

And, as per a fresh update from journalist Santi Aouna, Igor Paixao could be another player that Liverpool go for.

“OM expects to be approached by a Saudi club for Igor Paixão before the end of the transfer window,” he shared via X.

Igor Paixao was on Liverpool’s shortlist in the past

When Arne Slot was in charge of Liverpool, many of his former players were linked with Liverpool.

Lutsharel Geertruida, Paixao and Mats Wieffer are just a few of his former players who popped up as potential options.

And, while these players may have had a better chance of joining the Reds with Slot in charge, there’s no denying that they’re still very talented players.

Paixao has been one of Marseille’s best attackers over the last couple of years with the attacker even managing to contribute to 18 goals across all competitions.

Not only does this prove how good he is but it also shows why a €50 million (£42.75 million) deal would be an absolute steal for Liverpoool.

Obviously, fans will be holding out for Barcola and Mbaye to get over the line but, as a back-up option, the “extraordinary” Brazilian could end up being a solid choice.
