Aston Villa have officially announced their signing of Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki on a permanent transfer from Serie A side Parma, following the breakdown in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

Suzuki had been close to transferring to PSG earlier this window, and there were speculations that he might be loaned to Juventus for the 2026-27 season. However, this deal collapsed at the last minute following last-minute requests from the player’s agents.

Suzuki has made 57 appearances in the Italian top flight during his two seasons with Parma. He has also played in Belgium with Sint-Triuden and in Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds.

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Zion Suzuki from Parma,” stated the club in an announcement on their website.

The Japanese international, who represented his country at the FIFA World Cup 2026, joins on a permanent transfer.

Born in the USA, the goalkeeper grew up in Urawa, Japan, making his debut for the Urawa Red Diamonds at the age of 18. He later played in Belgium with Sint-Truiden before spending the past two seasons with Parma in Italy’s Serie A.

Regarded as one of the game’s promising talents in his position, Suzuki has received 22 caps at senior level for the Samurai Blue.
