Hull City Pursues Fiorentina’s Niccolò Fortini in Loan Deal

Hull City, recently promoted to the Premier League, is showing interest in acquiring Niccolò Fortini from Fiorentina. The 20-year-old player from Lucca is versatile, capable of playing as both a fullback and a wide midfielder. Last season, Fortini had a significant breakthrough, appearing 26 times for Fiorentina and earning his first cap for Italy.

As the Tigers aim to make an impact in the English top flight after a decade away, they are reportedly looking to secure Fortini on an initial loan, with an option to purchase him in the summer. While the player has not yet committed to the move, reports suggest he would need to extend his contract with Fiorentina, which currently pays him a gross annual salary of €236,000 and expires next June.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Hull City is in a strong position to outbid Torino for Fortini’s services, and there is optimism that the transfer could materialize soon.

This potential move appears to present a low-risk opportunity for all involved. Hull City seeks to develop a promising talent, while Fortini would gain valuable experience on one of the world’s most competitive stages alongside the chance to negotiate a better contract with his parent club. If the arrangement does not meet expectations, he could return to Serie A to continue honing his skills. Conversely, a standout performance in Hull could enhance his reputation and lead to more lucrative offers next summer.

Despite the hesitation often seen among Italian players regarding moves abroad, recent trends suggest that this opportunity could benefit all parties engaged in the negotiation.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, newly promoted Premier League side Hull City are keen on Fiorentina’s Niccolò Fortini.

The 20-year-old Lucca-born player, capable of playing as a fullback as well as a wide midfielder on either flank, had his coming-of-age season with La Viola last season, managing 26 appearances for them as well as earning his first cap for Italy.

Now, he is in Hull City’s sights. The Tigers are returning to the English top flight after a decade-long hiatus and are keen to give it their all and hopefully replicate Sunderland’s exploits from last season and deliver an odds-defying campaign.

Hull City are interested in taking Fortini up on loan initially, while retaining the option to buy him next summer. The player is yet to agree to the move, and if here to do so, he would renew his contract with Fiorentina in the process. His current deal with the Florentine outfit, fetching him a gross annual salary of €236,000, expires next June.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport – via ViolaNews, have updates. They believe the Tigers are ready to beat competition from Torino for the Italian and there is a good chance the deal now goes through soon.

A move that could do wonders

This seems like a low-risk move that could work for all parties in the long term. Hull are looking to take a promising player on loan, who in turn has an opportunity to showcase his talent on arguably the most competitive stage in world football while also getting an improved contract with his parent club.

If it doesn’t work out, no harm done. He could return to Serie A and try again. On the other hand, if he shone on an individual level, regardless of what fate befalls Hull City come next May, he would be singled out as one of the shining lights of their campaign and be subject to better offers in the summer.

Of course, Italian players tend to think twice before moving abroad, but that trend has been changing in recent seasons, and this on its own is a very promising proposition for everyone involved.
