Juventus Prepares for Possible Clear-Out as Summer Transfer Window Closes

Juventus has confirmed the acquisitions of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham and Jhon Lucumi from Bologna. However, if the Bianconeri aim to add any further players this summer, they will first need to offload some current squad members. Recent reports suggest that up to eight players might depart the Allianz Stadium before the summer transfer window closes.

    Identifying Surplus Players at Juventus

This summer, Juventus has welcomed six new players, including Vicario, Lucumi, forwards Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, and Jeff Ekhator, as well as wing-back Zeki Celik, who joined on a free transfer from Roma.

Several players have already left the Allianz Stadium this summer, such as Dusan Vlahovic and Filip Kostic, both on free transfers, alongside loan deals involving Lois Openda, Vasilije Adzic, and Joao Mario. Nevertheless, Juventus may still see as many as eight additional players exiting the first-team squad.

Reports on Tuesday highlighted that Arthur Melo, who has not featured for Juventus in a competitive match since the 2021-22 season, is likely to have his contract terminated.

Additionally, changes are anticipated in the goalkeeping department at Continassa. Vicario has been signed as the primary choice to succeed Michele Di Gregorio, who has drawn interest from Ligue 1 club Marseille and his former team, Monza, in Serie A.

Furthermore, there are indications that Juventus could also look to sell Mattia Perin, with the possibility of replacing him with former academy player Emil Audero.

According to reports from GOAL, defenders Daniele Rugani and Juan Cabal are expected to leave Juventus, likely on loan to other Serie A teams.

Additionally, Federico Gatti has been mentioned in connection with Napoli, especially after their recent acquisition of Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile. Whether Gatti remains with Juventus as the September deadline approaches remains uncertain.

If Juventus looks to part with more midfielders, Teun Koopmeiners stands out as the leading candidate for departure, with recent reports suggesting that his exit is ‘essential’ for coach Luciano Spalletti to acquire a replacement midfielder like Franck Kessie.

Finally, Nico Gonzalez has publicly expressed a desire to return to Atletico Madrid following a successful loan spell in the Spanish capital during the 2025-26 season. He seems reluctant about a return to Juventus, even though he remains under contract until summer 2029.

Juventus have recently announced the signings of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham and Jhon Lucumi from Bologna, but if the Bianconeri are to bring in any more players this summer, they will likely require sales first and the latest updates claim that as many as eight players could leave the Allianz Stadium before the close of the summer transfer window.

Which players are surplus to requirements at Juventus?

The Old Lady have brought in six new players so far this summer including the aforementioned Vicario and Lucumi, plus attackers Randal Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic and Jeff Ekhator, plus wing-back Zeki Celik on a free from Roma.

Several players have departed the Allianz Stadium this summer, including Dusan Vlahovic and Filip Kostic on free transfers, plus various loan departures for the likes of Lois Openda, Vasilije Adzic and Joao Mario.

Still, Juventus could part ways with up to eight more members of their current first-team squad.

Reports on Tuesday indicated that Arthur Melo, who has not made a competitive appearance for the Old Lady since the 2021-22 campaign, is likely to have his contract terminated.

There could also be several more departures in the  goalkeeping department at Continassa. Vicario has been brought in as the first-choice option to replace Michele Di Gregorio, who has been linked with Marseille in Ligue 1 and his former club Monza in Serie A.

Additionally, there have been suggestions that Juventus could also look to sell Mattia Perin and potentially replace him with former academy representative Emil Audero.

According to GOAL, both Daniele Rugani and Juan Cabal are likely to leave the Bianconeri defensive unit, most likely on loan to other Serie A sides.

Then there is Federico Gatti, who had been linked with a move to Napoli prior to their deal for Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile. It remains to be seen whether or not he will still be a Juventus player come September.

If Juventus are to part ways with any more midfielders, Teun Koopmeiners remains the most likely candidate to leave and Wednesday’s reports claim that his departure is ‘essential’ if Luciano Spalletti wants to bring in a replacement midfielder such as Franck Kessie.

Lastly, Nico Gonzalez has made it clear that he wishes to return to Atletico Madrid after an enjoyable loan spell in the Spanish capital in 2025-26, and that he is not particularly keen on the idea of returning to the Juventus fold, even if he is under contract until the summer of 2029.
