Following a 3-0 defeat against Brentford on Saturday, Tottenham’s incoming transfers will push their summer spending past £300m.

However, Roberto De Zerbi has acknowledged that Tottenham is still not ready for the upcoming Premier League season.

“I have faith in my players, my club, and myself. We are making progress, but we are behind schedule for the Premier League start,” De Zerbi stated.

“We need to improve quickly. We must be more competitive, as we lost too many battles on the field.”

“Our aim is to become a cohesive team. Finding the right spirit and identity is a process.”

Maresca expressed hopes that any forthcoming exits from Manchester City would be compensated with incoming talent.

City have previously seen the departure of Rodri, Bernando Silva, Tijjani Reijnders, John Stones, and Nathan Ake, following Pep Guardiola’s exit.

“Players want to play, and if they aren’t on the field, they tend to look for other opportunities,” Maresca remarked.
