De Zerbi Prepares Spurs for Carabao Cup Clash Against Charlton Athletic

Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi addressed the media today ahead of the Carabao Cup second-round match against Championship team Charlton Athletic at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the match kicks off at 19:45 BST.

During the press conference, De Zerbi shared several insights:

    • The coach expressed uncertainty about whether new signing Savio would “be ready” to start but mentioned that the player is expected to be part of the matchday squad.

    • On the topic of Savio, De Zerbi noted, “In terms of one-on-one, he’s one of the best players and can play on either side.”

    • Discussing the previous match, where Spurs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brentford, he stated that his squad possesses the quality to “do much better,” but he acknowledged that changing the team’s mentality is a “big challenge.”

    • De Zerbi added more context on Sunday’s loss, saying, “We need to get used to winning the matches. We have to change the mood. I think the environment has to change – the players inside and the people inside have to change this mentality.”

    • The Italian manager also highlighted the importance of striker Solanke, asserting that he needs to improve upon his performance against Brentford, stating, “We need the striker to hold the ball when the opposition go man-to-man.”

    • Regarding the transfer market, De Zerbi remarked that Spurs have been “working very well” but could not confirm whether there will be any additional player movements before the window closes.

As Spurs gear up for their upcoming match, fans eagerly anticipate how the team’s recent performances will shape their approach in the Carabao Cup.
