Liverpool Eyes Potential Deal for Dario Osorio Amid Struggles to Replace Salah

Liverpool has been connected with numerous players this summer as the club seeks significant changes to regain its form.

Many anticipated that Andoni Iraola’s appointment would provide a boost for the team, but their performance against Newcastle on Sunday dampened those expectations.

In the match, Liverpool’s double pivot of Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch contributed to the first goal the team conceded by abandoning their positions to attack, rather than coordinating their moves.

The evident need for a new midfielder remains, but upgrading that role doesn’t appear to be a priority for Liverpool at this stage, as the focus seems to be on other player transfers.

Fortunately, as a prominent club, Liverpool often attracts players willing to join, and they may have just received an opportunity to finalize a long-term target.

Uncertainty Surrounds Dario Osorio’s Future at FC Midtjylland

Liverpool has been exploring options for new attackers throughout the summer transfer window.

However, the Reds still haven’t managed to replace Mohamed Salah, who has joined Trabzonspor. Despite the club’s belief that Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha can fill that gap, Ngumoha demonstrated during the match against Newcastle that he is more effective when playing on the left.

This situation has prompted fans to call for new attackers, and while discussions continue regarding Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, there has been no significant progress on those fronts.

Other potential signings have also surfaced, and it appears Liverpool has gained a slight advantage in their pursuit of long-term target, Dario Osorio.

FC Midtjylland’s manager Mike Tullberg expressed uncertainty about whether Osorio has played his last game for the club, stating, “I’m incredibly happy to have Darío, but I don’t know if this was his last game with Midtjylland. You’d have to ask someone else about that,” as reported by TNT Sports Chile.

Acquisition of Dario Osorio Could Prove Beneficial for Liverpool

The prospect of Osorio joining Liverpool presents a mix of potential outcomes.

If the club signs the Chilean instead of Mbaye, the move could be pragmatic.

Conversely, if Osorio is brought in at the expense of Barcola or Yankuba Minteh, that’s where problems could occur, it could lead to complications.

At 22 years old, Osorio has scored 24 goals in his four years at Midtjylland, including the current season, but the transition to Liverpool’s starting lineup may be challenging for the young player.

From a development perspective, signing a player like Osorio appears sensible; however, unlike Mbaye, who would gain homegrown status within three years, Osorio will occupy a foreign spot for the duration of his time at Liverpool.

As negotiations continue, the club must ensure they have alternatives in place, or risk disappointing fans should Osorio’s transfer materialize.

Liverpool have been linked with an awful lot of players this summer.

The Reds needed to make many changes to their ranks so that they could get back to their best again.

Indeed, a lot of people expected Andoni Iraola’s appointment to be enough to at least give the Anfield outfit a bit of a boost but, after their performance against Newcastle on Sunday, that doesn’t really seem to have been the case.

The Reds’ double pivot of Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch were the main cause of the first goal that Liverpool conceded as they both left their positions and chose to attack, rather than one of them holding back while the other attacks.

And, while this proved that a new midfielder still needs to be brought in by Liverpool, at the moment, upgrading that area of the pitch doesn’t seem like a big priority to them with other players still being linked with a switch.

Fortunately, since Liverpool are such a big club, players often take the opportunities given to them when the Reds ask to sign them and now, they have may just been given a green light to get a deal for one of their long-term targets over the line.

FC Midtjylland’s manager says he’s unsure if Dario Osorio has played his last game for them or not

Throughout most of the summer transfer window, Liverpool have been linked with new attackers.

However, despite all the recent links that have emerged, the Reds still haven’t managed to replace Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King has now joined Trabzonspor and, although Liverpool may think that Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha can plug that gap, Ngumoha proved on Sunday against Newcastle that he’s much better when used on the left.

This has led to fans demanding that a new attacker or two is brought in and, even though deals for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are still in the works, at the moment, there’s been no movement with those deals.

Indeed, many other players have been linked with a potential switch but now, it seems like Liverpool have been handed a bit of a boost in their chase for long-term target, Dario Osorio.

This boost comes from FC Midtjylland manager Mike Tullberg who shared that he’s unsure whether Osorio has played his last game for the Danish Super Lig team yet or not.

“I’m incredibly happy to have Darío, but I don’t know if this was his last game with Midtjylland. You’d have to ask someone else about that,” he said in quotes relayed by TNT Sports Chile.

Liverpool signing Dario Osorio could end up being a smart move

Depending on which way you look at it, Osorio joining Liverpool could either be really good or really bad.

If the Chilean is going to be signed instead of Mbaye then it’s a deal that could make sense.

However, if he’s going to be recruited instead of Barcola or Yankuba Minteh, that’s where problems could occur.

The attacker is only 22 years old and, even though he’s scored 24 goals during the four years he’s been there (including the 2026-27 season), it still feels like too big of a step up for the youngster to get into Liverpool’s starting XI.

For a player who Liverpool can develop, it makes a lot of sense but, unlike Mbaye who would become homegrown in three years time, Osorio would take up a foreign spot for the duration of his time at Liverpool.

There are a lot of moving parts that still need to be ironed out for this deal but, if it does get confirmed, Liverpool best have another attacker lined up to come in otherwise, fans will be far from happy.
