Cardiff City Plans Loan Move for Midfielder Eli King
Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed that the club intends to send midfielder Eli King out on loan as the transfer window approaches its deadline.
King has not played for the Bluebirds in a competitive match since August 2025 due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained during training. Although the 23-year-old has been included on the bench twice this season, he was not part of the squad that lost 2-1 to Norwich in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
Instead, King participated in a match for Cardiff’s under-21s earlier that same day. Barry-Murphy stated that this choice better aligned with the player’s fitness recovery process.
“The intention is for him to go on loan and he’s just assessing his options as he tries to complete a full game since his injury,” Barry-Murphy explained. He acknowledged that King might not receive sufficient playing minutes to facilitate his recovery during the match against Norwich.
“He’s obviously coming back from a very serious injury, so we want to make sure he doesn’t miss out on any game-time on the bench for no reason,” he added.
