Headline: Liverpool Focuses on Attacking Reinforcements as Transfer Window Closes

Liverpool are expected to be busy in the final stages of this summer’s transfer window.

Despite a less-than-stellar midfield performance against Newcastle in Andoni Iraola’s Premier League opener on Sunday, the Reds are unlikely to pursue a specialist No6.

Instead, the club is concentrating on enhancing their attacking options. Liverpool featured Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo as their starting wide forwards against Newcastle at St. James’ Park.

Barcola Closing in on Liverpool Move

However, the situation is not satisfactory for Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes, especially after the loss of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer to Trabzonspor.

Reports suggest that Liverpool is considering several forward options, including Yankuba Minteh and Ibrahim Mbaye.

The Premier League champions are primarily focused on pursuing a deal for Bradley Barcola.

    PSG’s Barcola Price Comes Down

The 23-year-old France international is currently not in Paris Saint-Germain’s plans as his future gets sorted. He remains under contract at Parc des Princes until 2028.

With no new contract on the horizon, it seems Luis Enrique’s side will have to cash in.

L’Equipe reports that Barcola’s representatives are optimistic about securing a move to Liverpool this summer, with indications that PSG is reevaluating their valuation of the versatile winger.

Initially, the French club sought £145m for Barcola, but that asking price appears likely to decrease significantly as negotiations progress towards the end of the transfer window.

Barcola to Liverpool Will Be a PSG Club-Record Deal

PSG anticipates receiving a club-record fee for Barcola, surpassing the €90m paid for Neymar by Al-Hilal in 2023.

From Liverpool’s perspective, this anticipated deal remains reasonable for their top target, even though it would mark the highest outbound transfer in Ligue 1 history.

Currently, the record stands at €100m, a figure Manchester City paid to Lille for Ayyoub Bouaddi, with PSG already rejecting offers of €115m from Liverpool.

However, the pressure is mounting on PSG to resolve Barcola’s future.

With Barcola expressing his desire to join Liverpool and the club showing keen interest, it appears PSG may have to accept a fee lower than their initial demand. Liverpool looks set to receive a positive outcome soon.

Liverpool are expected to be busy in the final stages of this summer’s transfer window.

Despite a poor midfield showing against Newcastle in Andoni Iraola’s Premier League opener on Sunday the Reds are unlikely to go into the market for a specialist No6.

Instead the focus will be on improving the frontline further. Liverpool used Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo as their wide forward starting options against the Toon at St. James’ Park.

Barcola closing in on Liverpool move

It’s simply not enough for Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes however – who are still reeling from the loss of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer to Trabzonspor.

Deals are live for several forward – per reports – with Yankuba Minteh and Ibrahim Mbaye said to be under consideration.

The 2024/25 Premier League champions have spent all summer however pursuing a deal for Bradley Barcola.

    PSG’s Barcola price comes down

The France international, 23, is not currently among Paris Saint-Germain’s options as his future is sorted out. The two-time European champion remains under contract at Parc des Princes until 2028.

With no new deal on the horizon it looks as though Luis Enrique’s side will have to cash in.

L’Equipe is now reporting that Barcola’s entourage are confident of securing the move they want this summer which is a transfer to Liverpool. There are also signs of movement on PSG’s valuation of their versatile winger.

Originally the French aristocrats were seeking a deal worth £145m for Barcola but it looks as though that price will come down dramatically as a deal is sought in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Barcola to Liverpool will be a PSG club-record deal

The Parisians are expected to bank a club-record fee for Barcola – surpassing the €90m paid for Neymar by Al-Hilal back in 2023.

It will still be a reasonable deal from a Liverpool perspective for their No1 target – albeit the most expensive outbound deal in French Ligue 1 history.

That record currently stands at the €100m Manchester City paid to Lille for Ayyoub Bouaddi – with PSG already turning down bids worth €115m by the Merseysiders.

However the pressure on PSG will grow as a resolution on Barcola’s future is sought.

Barcola wants Liverpool, Liverpool want Barcola and PSG might have to accept slightly less than they were originally asking for. It looks as though Liverpool will get the green light soon.
