Headline: Bristol City’s Manager Confident Ahead of Transfer Deadline

Bristol City are well-prepared for potential changes as the transfer window approaches its closing date, but manager Michael Skubala does not anticipate any last-minute deals. Earlier this week, the club welcomed Elijah Adebayo as their 10th signing of the summer, with the transfer window set to close on 1 September.

While Skubala dismissed the likelihood of outgoing players in the immediate future, he acknowledged that situations can shift unexpectedly as the deadline nears. “I think we are more planned than that, if I’m honest,” he told BBC Radio Bristol. He explained that while surprises can occur at the last moment—recalling instances where deals materialized with just an hour left in the window—he is confident in the club’s readiness for any eventuality.

“The window changes very quickly in hours, over days. But we are in a good position with whatever happens and we are prepared for whatever happens,” Skubala added.

He maintains regular communication with sporting director James Ellis regarding any potential player movements but emphasized that his primary focus remains on upcoming matches, including the home game against Portsmouth on Saturday and the following match at Deepdale three days later.

“James and I are seeing a lot of each other and talking a lot,” said Skubala. “After Saturday things will start to go hectic as they always do with the window, but I am more focused on the game ahead and what we have to do to get the three points on Saturday and then after that on Tuesday night.”

Skubala concluded by expressing confidence in the club’s preparedness as they navigate the transfer window and aim to secure favorable results on the pitch.

Bristol City are “prepared” for whatever might happen in the final days of the transfer window but are unlikely to be doing last-minute business, manager Michael Skubala has said.

Elijah Adebayo became the Robins’ 10th summer signing earlier this week, with the window closing on 1 September.

While he dismissed the prospect of any imminent outgoings, Skubala said things can become unpredictable as the deadline approaches.

However, he insisted that City are prepared for whatever might happen and he does not expect to be talking about transfers in his post-match news conference following Tuesday’s game against Preston North End.

“I think we are more planned than that, if I’m honest,” he told BBC Radio Bristol.

“Of course, things do come last minute – I have been in situations where there is an hour to go and something happens. The most important thing is we are prepared for what could happen but I don’t expect us to be doing stuff last minute.

Skubala is in constant contact with sporting director James Ellis over potential incomings and outgoings but is more focused on the visit of Portsmouth on Saturday and the trip to Deepdale three days later.

“James and I are seeing a lot of each other and talking a lot,” he said. “After Saturday things will start to go hectic as they always do with the window but I am more focused on the game ahead and what we have to do to get the three points on Saturday and then after that on Tuesday night.

“James has definitely got his finger on the pulse as always around the window and we are happy. We are prepared for everything, which is the most important thing.”
