Headline: Everton Manager David Moyes Talks Resilience After Recent Match Draw

Everton manager David Moyes expressed his relief and satisfaction following his team’s recent match, drawing with their opponents. Speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day, Moyes remarked on the team’s resilience, stating, “I didn’t think a goal was coming. We stuck at it, resilient; we were good away from last season, so hopefully we can keep it going.”

The match saw critical defensive efforts from Everton, particularly in the closing minutes. Moyes credited his players for making “some amazing blocks late in the game” and conveyed his contentment with securing a point.

Looking ahead, Moyes commented on the upcoming transfer window, which closes Tuesday. He mentioned, “Might want the transfer window left open so we can get a few more players in! I have said we could do with strengthening, and hopefully, we can do that.”

He added that while the team has a solid foundation, it’s crucial to maintain their stronger players, noting, “I don’t think we can afford to lose any players, certainly not our better ones. The club dictates a lot of that, and we will see how the next few days go.”

In a historical note, Everton has managed to avoid defeat in their first away match of a Premier League campaign for the first time since August 2021 against Leeds United. Prior to this match, the Toffees had lost their last four away games at the start of a league season.

Additionally, Everton saw improved offensive numbers, achieving five shots on target in the first half—marking their highest tally since a match against Tottenham Hotspur in January 2025. Their non-penalty expected goals (xG) of 1.06 in the first half represented their best performance in that category since September 2025.

Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC MOTD: “I didn’t think a goal was coming. We stuck at it, resilient, we were good away from last season so hopefully we can keep it going.

“We needed somebody to come up with something. We did some amazing blocks late in the game. Pleased with a point.
