Headline: FC Barcelona’s Anthony Gordon Impresses Fans and Teammates with Strong Performances

FC Barcelona’s summer signing, Anthony Gordon, 25, has quickly adapted to his new team and city, earning praise from supporters as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Gordon joined the team from Newcastle for €70 million plus €10 million in variables. His early performances in Barcelona have shown that he is off to a promising start in Catalonia. In the opening league match against Elche, he made a significant impact with two assists, helping to secure a win against Athletic Club in Thursday’s 2-0 match. These displays seem to have silenced any lingering doubts about his transfer.

In his debut, Gordon initially came off the bench against Elche but made a substantial impact during his 25-minute appearance on the left wing. Three minutes after stepping onto the pitch, he assisted Raphinha for the team’s third goal. Moments later, he found himself in a one-on-one situation with the Elche goalkeeper but opted to pass to Fermin Lopez for another goal, showcasing his team-first mentality.

On Thursday, Gordon made his first start at Spotify Camp Nou, taking over the left flank from Karim Adeyemi. He consistently troubled Athletic’s right-back, Hugo Rincon, with his speed and ball skills, forming effective combinations with teammate Lamine Yamal that created multiple scoring chances.

During the match, a significant portion of the Camp Nou crowd began chanting Gordon’s name. In response, he acknowledged the fans, applauding them while tapping the Barcelona badge on his jersey. Although it is still early in his career at Barcelona, Gordon has already made a positive impression on fans, and his connection with the supporters seems to grow with each game.

Arriving at a new club, settling into a new city and winning over the supporters can be difficult for any signing.

FC Barcelona summer signing Anthony Gordon, 25, appears to have managed all three already, as per Mundo Deportivo.

The English forward joined Barcelona from Newcastle for €70 million plus €10 million in variables and has made an impressive start to life in Catalonia.

His performances in the league opener against Elche, where he provided two assists, followed by another excellent display against Athletic Club in Thursday’s 2-0 victory, appear to have convinced the few remaining doubters of his signing.

    A fine debut

Flick initially opted for a gradual introduction for the summer signing. Gordon started on the bench against Elche, but his 25-minute cameo on the left wing was more than enough to show that he had arrived ready to play an important role.

Just three minutes after coming on, he set up Raphinha for Barcelona’s third goal.

Three minutes later, Gordon found himself one-on-one with the Elche goalkeeper and had the chance to score his first goal for the club. Instead, he chose to square the ball for Fermin Lopez, allowing his teammate to make it 0-4.

That gesture did not go unnoticed by either the Barcelona supporters or Fermin, who had begun the season with his confidence affected after an injury prevented him from joining his teammates at the World Cup.

Gordon, who had replaced Lamine Yamal, showed both his generosity and his willingness to put the team ahead of his own personal statistics.

Gordon makes his mark at the Spotify Camp Nou

On Thursday, Gordon made his Camp Nou debut as a starter. Flick handed him a place in the starting XI on his natural left flank, replacing Karim Adeyemi, who had started against Elche.

The Englishman proved a constant problem for Athletic’s right-back, Hugo Rincon.

His pace and quality on the ball were among Barcelona’s main attacking weapons during the first half, while his combination with Lamine Yamal produced several dangerous moments in the Athletic penalty area.

Then, in the 69th minute, the Spotify Camp Nou made its feelings clear.

Gordon had moved towards the goal to take a drink when a large section of the crowd began chanting his name. The forward responded by applauding the supporters and repeatedly tapping the Barcelona badge on his shirt.

It is still early days in his Barcelona career, but Gordon has already won over the fans. And judging by his performances and reaction to the supporters, Barcelona appears to be winning him over too.
