Nico Gonzalez Shines as Juventus Secures 2-0 Win Against Parma

In a spirited performance, Juventus defeated Parma 2-0 at Allianz Stadium, with Nico Gonzalez coming off the bench to score and assist in the victory. The Bianconeri’s triumph follows their 1-0 win away to Frosinone, although they are dealing with challenges, including the loss of Kenan Yildiz for three months due to a broken metatarsal. Additionally, Weston McKennie, Khephren Thuram, and transfer-listed Edon Zhegrova are sidelined.

Jhon Lucumi received his first start for the club, while Jonathan David played in a trequartista role. Parma recently lost Hans Nicolussi Caviglia to surgery and suffered a home defeat to Cagliari.

Throughout the match, both teams had their opportunities. Douglas Luiz forced a volley off-target, and Christian Ordonez saw his deflected effort miss the mark. Francisco Conceicao nearly scored with a precise shot that hit the post in the 33rd minute. Lucumi showcased his potential with a volley that sailed over the bar, and David struggled to find the net after a defensive error, which drew boos from frustrated fans.

The crowd reacted notably when David and Boga were replaced by Kerim Alajbegovic and Gonzales, leading to immediate results. Gonzalez made a quick impact, striking a remarkable volley that was saved, only to follow up with a powerful attempt that struck the post and then went in off Mariano Troilo.

Parma retaliated swiftly, with Guglielmo Vicario saving a header from David Romero just off the line. Kolo Muani created further chances, forcing another save from Edoardo Corvi before sending a header over from a corner.

Despite claims for a penalty following a tackle on Mandela Keita, Juventus faced additional injury woes when substitute Andrea Cambiaso left the pitch with a right ankle injury. Moments later, Teun Koopmeiners extended Juve’s lead, scoring a precise shot into the far corner on an assist from Manuel Locatelli, after a defensive lapse from Parma.

Nico Gonzalez came off the bench and sparked Juventus into life for a 2-0 victory over Parma, scoring one and instigating another for Teun Koopmeiners, but Jonathan David was jeered.

The Bianconeri won the opener 1-0 away to Frosinone, but lost Kenan Yildiz for three months to a broken metatarsal, with Weston McKennie, Khephren Thuram and transfer-listed Edon Zhegrova also out of action. Jhon Lucumi got his first start for the club, with Jonathan David used in a trequartista role. The Ducali lost at home to Cagliari and lost Hans Nicolussi Caviglia to surgery this week.

Spalletti: ‘A great Juventus performance, despite what some might say’

Douglas Luiz volleyed off target and Christian Ordonez’s effort was deflected wide off Pierre Kalulu, but Francisco Conceicao was unlucky to see his daisy-cutter from outside the area clip the base of the upright on 33 minutes.

There was another opportunity for Douglas Luiz, a weak header straight at the goalkeeper from the Kalulu cross, but Lucumi almost scored on his debut when volleying over from a smart corner kick routine and dinked Jeremie Boga assist.

David also failed to keep his shot down after a poor clearance, prompting jeers from the frustrated crowd, then Kolo Muani scuffed wide after a sensational Conceicao nutmeg to get away from Emanuele Valeri.

There were very loud jeers from the crowd when David and Boga made way for Kerim Alajbegovic and Nico Gonzalez, and it almost had an immediate effect, because within minutes the Argentina international hit a magnificent volley from the edge of the area, denied by the even better one-handed Edoardo Corvi save.

Nico Gonzalez made an extraordinary impact, as moments later he unleashed a shot from a huge distance that cannoned off the upright, it ricocheted back into his path and the second attempt went in off Mariano Troilo.

Parma responded immediately, as Guglielmo Vicario made a desperate one-handed save to claw the David Romero header off the line.

Kolo Muani completed a give and go with Nico Gonzalez to force another Corvi save, then nodded the resulting corner over the bar from six yards.

Parma had penalty appeals for an Alajbegovic challenge on Mandela Keita, but there was another problem for Juve when substitute Andrea Cambiaso hobbled off with a right ankle injury.

His replacement scored moments later, as Teun Koopmeiners drilled into the far bottom corner from just inside the area on a Manuel Locatelli lay-off, after Nico Gonzalez had caught Konate napping playing out from the back.
