Emerson Nwaneri received a red card before halftime, as Arsenal Under-18s ended their match with nine men, falling 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Arsenal managed to hold Brighton scoreless for the first half-hour of the contest until a critical moment occurred in the 35th minute.

Nwaneri was handed a second yellow card for a late tackle, forcing Arsenal to play with 10 players for more than half of the match.

Despite this setback, Arsenal took the lead early in the second half thanks to a corner kick finished by Abraham Owusu-Gyasi.

However, Brighton quickly equalized through Daniel Rudin, who scored just three minutes later. Substitute Raffaele Oppong then netted the winning goal for Brighton six minutes before full-time, making it 2-1.

To compound Arsenal’s woes, Jack Talbot was dismissed shortly after for disputing the decision on Brighton’s winning goal.

As a result of this defeat, Arsenal’s Under-18 team remains winless this season, following a goalless draw against West Brom and a 3-1 loss to Ipswich.

Arsenal Under-18s played much of their 2-1 defeat at Brighton with 10 men before a second dismissal followed the hosts’ late winner.

Arsenal had kept Brighton out through the opening half-hour before the game changed in the 35th minute.

Nwaneri, who had already been booked, was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge, leaving Arsenal to play more than half the match with 10 men.

    But it would get worse.

Despite that disadvantage, Arsenal took the lead after half-time from a corner through Abraham Owusu-Gyasi.

Brighton responded quickly through Daniel Rudin, who levelled three minutes later, before substitute Raffaele Oppong scored from close range with six minutes remaining to make it 2-1.

Arsenal’s afternoon deteriorated further when Jack Talbot was sent off for protesting Brighton’s winning goal.

The u18s are without a win this season, having drawn 0-0 with West Brom and lost 3-1 to Ipswich.
