Everton Seeks to Strengthen Attack with Offer for Folarin Balogun

Everton has made a bid for Folarin Balogun, a forward with AS Monaco, who is currently valued at £40 million by the French club. As the transfer deadline approaches on Tuesday, the Toffees are looking to bolster their attacking options, with both Balogun and Tottenham’s Richarlison among their targeted players.

Richarlison, however, reportedly has hesitations about returning to Everton, the team he left in 2022 to join Spurs. Despite this, Everton is advancing their pursuit of Balogun, a 25-year-old United States international, having put forward an official offer.

It remains uncertain whether Monaco will accept the bid for Balogun. The former Arsenal player has become a key target for Everton as they aim to make timely improvements to their squad.

Balogun has had a notable start to his career at Monaco, netting 31 goals and assisting 13 times in 91 appearances since joining from Arsenal in the summer of 2023. His track record includes a successful loan at Reims, where he scored 22 goals in 39 matches, as well as experiencing the Championship with Middlesbrough.

In addition to his club achievements, Balogun has found the net twice for his childhood club Arsenal and has recorded 12 goals in 31 appearances for the USA national team, which includes three goals scored during this summer’s World Cup. Notably, he also found himself at the center of a controversy concerning the suspension of a red-card ban during the tournament, which allowed him to participate in the knockout stages.

Everton have made an offer for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun – who is valued at £40m by the French club.

The Toffees want to strengthen their forward line before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, with Balogun and Tottenham attacker Richarlison among their targets.

Richarlison is believed to have reservations about returning to Everton, the club he left to join Spurs in 2022.

But Everton are pressing ahead with their interest in United States striker Balogun and have made a bid for the 25-year-old.

Whether the offer is enough for Monaco to part with Balogun remains to be seen.

But the former Arsenal player has emerged as a key target for Everton ahead of the deadline.

    Did you know?

Balogun has scored 31 goals and provided 13 assists in 91 appearances across all competitions for Monaco since he signed from Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

He previously had season-long loan spells at fellow French side Reims – where he scored 22 goals in 39 appearances – and Championship Middlesbrough.

He scored senior two goals for boyhood club Arsenal and has recorded 12 goals in 31 appearances for the USA national team, including three at this summer’s World Cup. It was there where he was also at the centre of a major controversy surrounding the suspending of his red-card ban to allow him to play in the last-16.
