Liverpool are no longer a straightforward side to manage. The squad now contains so many complications. Richard Hughes made significant errors when assembling this group.
He signed players with large egos and invested heavily in athletes labelled superstars, only to discover they were not as capable as he assumed.
Now, Ward must step in and correct all of that. He needs to make difficult decisions regarding some of Liverpool’s current players while also finding a way to strengthen the squad with the budget at his disposal.
Why it’s all over for Florian Wirtz at Liverpool
Unfortunately, one of the biggest issues from the Hughes era is probably Wirtz. He was a highly exciting signing. However, he has failed to live up to the hype.

Right now, he is not even close to the player Liverpool believed they signed. He is a shadow of himself. He struggles to control the ball and struggles to adjust to the pace of the Premier League.
Simply put, the situation is not working out. Many supporters are realising this as well. Wirtz is just not the player Liverpool need right now.
His performance against Man City, where he was completely absent, only solidified everyone’s belief. This was an opportunity for Wirtz to step up and defy the scrutiny. But he failed to do so, and was subbed off. That is a clear sign his time at Anfield might be ending.
Julian Ward to pull off incredible Wirtz swap deal
Now, Ward is open to the sale of Wirtz. The German is also attracting the attention of several big clubs. According to Ekrem Kunor writing on X, Wirtz is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

There has also been a previous report which confirmed Bayern were interested in Wirtz.
At the same time Space ITK is reporting that Liverpool’s representatives are in contact with Michael Olise. Liverpool are currently the most advanced club in negotiations for his signature.
So, Liverpool want Olise, and Bayern want Wirtz. There is an obvious solution here. A swap deal.
And what an incredible deal this would be. It would solve Liverpool’s Wirtz problem and help them to acquire one of the best right-wingers on the planet right now in Olise.
