Scunthorpe Appoints Jacob Butterfield and Ross Barrows as Interim Coaches
Scunthorpe United has announced that player-coach Jacob Butterfield and defender Ross Barrows will take interim charge of the team. This decision follows the dismissal of former manager Andy Butler on Wednesday, a move prompted by a 4-1 defeat at Tamworth that left the team five points from safety in the National League. The club confirmed on Thursday that Butler’s assistant, John Schofield, also lost his position.
Jacob Butterfield, a 36-year-old veteran midfielder, returned for a second stint with Scunthorpe during the summer and joined the coaching staff under Butler. In their new roles, Butterfield and the 28-year-old Barrows will oversee the team during the upcoming Lincolnshire derby against Boston on Saturday.
