Barcelona has announced that teenage goalkeeper Iker Rodriguez has signed a new contract with the club, ensuring his stay for an additional three years, extending his commitment until 2029. The agreement also provides an option for the club to extend his contract by two more years.

In a statement, FC Barcelona confirmed, “FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Iker Rodríguez to extend his contract for three more seasons, until June 30, 2029. The agreement also includes an option to extend for two additional seasons.”

One for the Future

Iker Rodriguez joined La Masia at a young age and is regarded as a promising talent within the club. At just 16 years old, he participated in his first training session with the senior team in 2024 and has since made occasional appearances in first-team practices without yet making his official debut.

Rodriguez trained fully with the first team under coach Hansi Flick and was poised to serve as the third-choice goalkeeper until Dominik Livakovic’s signing altered the team’s goalscoring strategy.

Subsequently, he was moved down to Barça Atletic, where he has excelled, recording five clean sheets in eight games and allowing only four goals.

Negotiations for Rodriguez’s new contract had been ongoing, fueled by interest from several clubs over the summer. Nevertheless, both Rodriguez and the club remained dedicated to extending their partnership, culminating in the successful signing of a new three-year deal until 2029.
