Headline: Real Madrid Secures Sixth Consecutive Win with Strong Performance Against Racing Santander
Real Madrid has experienced a significant turnaround in recent weeks, achieving their sixth straight victory by defeating Racing Santander. The match took place at El Sardinero, where Los Blancos made a powerful start, scoring three goals in the first half to clinch all three points.
Arda Guler stood out among the players, continuing his strong performance as the new season progresses. While Kylian Mbappe garners much attention for his goalscoring, the Turkish international has become integral to the team’s creativity.
Guler Leads La Liga in Key Creative Stats
Guler currently leads La Liga with 39 key passes and 21 accurate crosses this season. His impressive statistics highlight his essential role in Jose Mourinho’s lineup, firmly establishing himself in the right-wing position.
The 21-year-old has also generated 4.32 expected assists (xA), marking him as the second-highest in this category within the league. Additionally, his 12 big chances created rank him second among La Liga players this season. Despite this, he has recorded only three assists, including one during the 3-0 win over Racing.
In the match against Racing, Guler delivered a perfectly timed through ball that set up Jude Bellingham’s well-executed goal.
Guler’s Limited Assists Do Not Reflect His Contribution
Guler’s impressive underlying statistics suggest that his actual assist total should be higher than three. The expected assists metric indicates the quality of chances he has created, and the disparity between expected and actual assists implies that his teammates have not converted these opportunities effectively.
Typically, leading assist providers surpass their xA figures, but Guler stands out as an exception.
While his current assist total is modest, prospects improve if his teammates can finish the chances he creates. Mourinho’s confidence in Guler shines through, as the midfielder’s ability to find passing lanes and deliver precise crosses complements Madrid’s fast-paced attacking style.
Additionally, Guler excels in set-pieces, posing a significant threat from free kicks and corners. Gradually, the 21-year-old is proving himself as a vital player for Real Madrid, establishing a position as one of Mourinho’s preferred choices, and the ongoing season will reveal how his form develops.
