Headline: PSG’s Lucas Hernandez Set to Replace Digne Against Villarreal in Champions League Clash
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) plans to start Lucas Hernandez in place of Lucas Digne for their UEFA Champions League match against Villarreal on Tuesday night. Digne, who had been signed as a backup for Nuno Mendes, has faced difficulties with his form since his transfer from Aston Villa. In contrast, Hernandez performed well in Mendes’ absence during a recent match against Barcelona and is favored to play as PSG faces yet another Spanish team.
The PSG squad will miss four key players: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Mendes. Kvaratskhelia has sustained an ACL injury that could keep him sidelined for most, if not all, of the season. Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Mendes are dealing with shorter-term injuries. With Dembélé unavailable, Ferran Torres is expected to take the lead in the attack for the reigning European champions.
