Serie A Leads European Leagues in Under-21 Goals as Young Talents Shine

Serie A Sees Surge in Goals from Young Talent in 2026 Season

Serie A is witnessing an unprecedented wave of goals from young players, with the league currently leading Europe’s top five in strikes from athletes under the age of 21.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, players born in 2005 or later have netted 45 goals in the first nine rounds of the season, dramatically up from just 17 at the same point last year. The report reveals that 23 different Under-21 players have found the back of the net, a significant increase from the 12 scorers recorded the previous season.

The trend continued as Round 10 concluded, with Serie A amassing a total of 53 Under-21 goals. This places the league ahead of France’s Ligue 1, which has seen 49 goals, while Spain’s La Liga and Germany’s Bundesliga both recorded 39 each. The English Premier League trails with only 24 goals from youthful talents.

Milan’s Alphadjo Cissé, 20, has emerged as a standout performer this season, solidifying his position in Rúben Amorim’s squad after transferring from Verona earlier this year.

In Monza, 21-year-old Gustavo Varela has scored eight league goals and is drawing attention from clubs both domestically and internationally. His teammates, Jay Robinson and Eddy Kouadio, have also contributed to the team’s scoring tally.

At Roma, manager Gian Piero Gasperini has placed significant trust in his younger players, with Lulli, Rodrigo Mora, and Niccolò Pisilli all making notable contributions. Similarly, Fiorentina’s Franco Mastantuono demonstrated his potential with a hat trick against Venezia.

The youngest goal scorer of the season so far is 18-year-old Simone Lontani of Parma, who scored a breathtaking goal during Monday’s match against Atalanta, helping his team to a 3-0 victory.
