Michael Carrick Excludes Lisandro Martinez Following Poor Performance Against Chelsea

Headline: Manchester United’s Michael Carrick Makes Key Changes Ahead of Champions League Clash with Roma

Under-pressure manager Michael Carrick has excluded Lisandro Martinez from the starting line-up for Manchester United’s upcoming Champions League match against Roma at Old Trafford.

Martinez’s omission follows a challenging performance at Chelsea, where he conceded a penalty and received a red card during Saturday’s loss. Despite being eligible to play in Europe, Carrick opted for Ayden Heaven in place of the Argentinian defender.

This change comes as Martinez has struggled with a series of errors recently, contributing to Manchester United’s winless streak of nine matches under Carrick. The manager is eager to turn around a disappointing season and secure his position.

The team last celebrated a win after starting their European campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory against Sabah in September. While Martinez retained his spot despite being fined for criticizing the United hierarchy following last month’s Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid, his form has not improved.

Following that defeat, United faced a heavy 4-1 loss to Como in the Champions League. Comments from Bruno Fernandes questioning Carrick’s methods resulted in a further reshuffle, leading to Fernandes being benched against Bournemouth.

Another adjustment for the clash with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Giallorossi sees Kobbie Mainoo starting in place of Andrey Santos.
