Carrick Acknowledges Challenge of Facing “Great Team” Roma

Headline: Michael Carrick Praises Team’s Determination After Comeback Victory Over Roma

United’s manager Michael Carrick addressed the media following the Red Devils’ impressive 3-2 comeback victory against Roma. At the post-match press conference, Carrick expressed his pride in the players for their ability to turn the match around and credited the fans for their unwavering support.

“I’m really proud of my players; they deserve great respect for being able to turn the game around. The fans also did their part; they wanted to inspire us, and their support was palpable,” Carrick stated.

He acknowledged the frustration experienced during the first half but highlighted the importance of fan support in the locker room discussions. “After the first half, there was a lot of frustration, but in the locker room, I reminded the boys how important the fans were. In the second half, we maintained a positive attitude and continued to believe until the end. It’s still a victory, nothing more,” he remarked.

Carrick considered the result significant, noting that some players felt new sensations at Old Trafford, while new arrivals experienced the encouraging atmosphere generated by the supporters. “Sometimes, it’s not easy to figure out how to overcome difficulties. Now, however, we must stay calm and focus on the next match,” he added.

Reflecting on the challenge posed by Roma, Carrick admitted that the opposition is a strong team, stating, “Roma are a top-notch team, they marked the entire pitch individually, and we knew it would be a tough match. We left our opponents too much space, but gradually we managed to get closer to their goal.”

He encouraged his players to remain resolute, especially during difficult moments. “We knew they could cause us problems, but in those moments you have to keep believing in what you’re doing, without giving in to frustration,” Carrick explained.

Carrick also touched on the potential confidence issues faced by his team, particularly after Bruno Fernandes’ missed penalty and Baleba’s exit from the game. However, he praised Tielemans for making a positive impact off the bench, concluding, “We wanted to give this victory to our fans.”
