Milan Eyes Gonçalo Inácio as Major January Defensive Target
Milan are readying themselves to bolster their defense when the transfer window reopens in January, with Sporting CP’s captain Gonçalo Inácio emerging as their primary target.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Rossoneri rank the acquisition of a new center-back as a crucial priority with less than two months remaining until the market opens. Despite Inácio’s position as the top candidate, securing a deal could prove challenging due to Sporting’s high asking price. Nonetheless, Milan intends to pursue the possibility of negotiations with the Portuguese club.
The 25-year-old defender is familiar with Milan’s coach, Ruben Amorim, having played under him for multiple seasons at Sporting. Inácio reportedly has a release clause set at €60 million; however, sources from the Portuguese media, A Bola, indicate that a fee in the range of €40-45 million might be sufficient to facilitate the transfer.
Inácio is not the only player on Milan’s radar. The club is also exploring options to invest in younger talents, setting their sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Luca Reggiani. Born in 2008, Reggiani left Sassuolo’s academy for Germany at the age of 16 and made his debuts in both the Bundesliga and Champions League last season.
Another potential addition is Massiré Sylla of Union Saint-Gilloise. The 21-year-old Senegalese defender transferred to the Belgian club from Norway’s Lyn in January, after earning the title of Young Player of the Year in Norway’s second tier.
