Guernsey FC Claims Dominant 4-0 Victory Over Lancing

Guernsey FC achieved its sixth consecutive victory in the Southern Combination Premier Division, overpowering Lancing with a 4-0 win at Victoria Park.

Record goalscorer Ross Allen opened the scoring early, finding the net from Dylan Graham’s pass just seven minutes into the match.

Just four minutes later, Will Fazakerley struck the crossbar, followed closely by Sam Murray’s header that also hit the frame of the goal from a corner.

Fazakerley eventually got on the scoresheet four minutes before the break, converting Graham’s cross at the far post. The Green Lions went into halftime leading 3-0 after Murray scored, capitalizing on a rebound from a header by Archie Drillot that had bounced off the bar.

Only two minutes into the second half, the home side increased their advantage. Graham was fouled in the penalty area, allowing Allen to convert the penalty.

Corey Brouard missed the target with 15 minutes left, and two minutes later, Murray had another attempt that hit the bar.

Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance expressed his satisfaction with the performance, stating to BBC Radio Guernsey, “It was controlled and 4-0 was comprehensive, but I thought we could have scored more goals and probably should have scored more goals.” He acknowledged the significance of the first goal and emphasized the team’s control during the match.

Vance added, “First half was good, we got that first goal which is important and then, whilst we were in so much control, what we haven’t done this year is run away from teams so you always leave it close. So it was important to get the second and if the third brilliant, and luckily we got that in the first half. Going 3-0 up we put some air between us and them so then it’s a question of trying to see the job through and probably could and should have scored more goals.”
