Real Madrid Frustrated by High Number of Fouls in Latest Match Against Valencia
Real Madrid’s recent 3-0 victory at Mestalla became overshadowed by the team’s frustration with the officiating and the excessive fouls committed against them by Valencia players. Despite their win, the Los Blancos felt aggrieved by what they perceived to be an unacceptably high number of fouls that went unpunished during the match.
The game saw Real Madrid suffer a staggering 26 fouls, averaging one every three and a half minutes. This statistic marks the highest number of fouls recorded in a single match during La Liga this season. Concerns are growing in the Madrid dressing room, with players expressing that rather than being protected, they feel deliberately targeted by their opponents’ physical tactics.
Reports from Diario AS indicate that the players are disturbed not only by the fouls in this match but by ongoing patterns throughout the season where they have been singled out for excessive tackling. This situation seems to be exacerbated by the club’s tenuous relationship with referees, leading to perceptions of biased officiating.
The team’s annoyance peaked during the match against Valencia, and they are expressing their anger over what they see as glaring double standards in officiating. Players voicing their frustrations believe this is not just an isolated issue but rather reflects a troubling trend throughout their current campaign.
Historically, Real Madrid has been on the wrong end of heavy foul counts. In fact, the Spanish outlet noted that the club has been involved in three recent La Liga games where the number of fouls exceeded 26, with matches against Getafe in December 2024 and October 2025 also featuring similarly high foul counts.
This season alone, Real Madrid has encountered a total of 171 fouls over 12 games, making them the team most frequently penalized, followed by Racing Santander with 161. In contrast, rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid trail significantly behind, having faced 108 and 113 fouls, respectively.
Among individual players, Jude Bellingham leads the list of those most fouled, drawing 31 fouls so far. Alongside him, three other Real Madrid players—Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, and Arda Guler—also rank among the top ten most fouled in the league.
