Spain Faces Belgium in 2026 World Cup Quarterfinal Match

The 2026 World Cup continues this Friday with a highly anticipated quarterfinal matchup between Spain and Belgium. Here is a look at what to expect from the contest.

    Spain vs. Belgium

    Friday, July 10 | 3 p.m. ET | Inglewood, Cali. | TV: Fox

    Odds: Spain -380, Belgium +290

Spain enters the quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2010. The team has remained dominant through five matches, scoring nine goals while conceding none. Goalkeeper Unai Simón currently leads the tournament with five clean sheets, having saved all five shots on goal he has faced. He has maintained a shutout streak for a record 609 minutes.

Spain secured its spot in this round after Mikel Merino scored a stoppage-time goal to eliminate Portugal. The team now prepares for its third consecutive match against a European opponent as it faces Belgium, a squad that recently knocked out the United States, one of the tournament’s three co-hosts.

This match represents a final opportunity for Belgian stars Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois, and Romelu Lukaku. The trio played key roles in Belgium’s third-place finish in 2018, where Lukaku tallied four goals and Courtois earned the Golden Glove award.

Belgium must adjust its roster moving forward, as midfielder Amadou Onana will miss the remainder of the tournament after suffering a ruptured ACL during the win over the United States.
