Barcelona Eyeing New Striker Targets Amid Potential Summer Departures
Barcelona have been active in this summer transfer window, unlike in recent seasons, and it looks like they are just getting started.
The Catalan club have wrapped up a deal for Anthony Gordon, made the signing of youngster Hamza Abdelkarim permanent and are also closing in on the signing of Karim Adeyemi.
The club continue to dream of signing Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez while also negotiating for a developmental bet like Jesse Bisiwu.
Meanwhile, the club have also seen Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford leave, and Ferran Torres could follow them out of the door to join PSG.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona could move to sign another striker alongside Alvarez should Ferran leave the club this summer.
Vlahovic and Asllani remain options
Dusan Vlahovic is available after the end of his Juventus contract and has been offered to Barcelona through his representatives.
His initial salary, signing bonus and commission demands were considered too high, but the figures are said to have been reduced.
Fisnik Asllani represents a younger and more developmental option. The Hoffenheim forward has a reported €29 million release clause and has attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund, but he is believed to be waiting to see whether Barcelona make a move.
Barça have already spoken to the player and his representatives, although Flick would have the final say over whether the club advance.
His Bundesliga performances and desire to join make him an interesting possibility, but €29 million would still be a major investment for a backup striker.
Barcelona need balance, not just names
Hamza Abdelkarim will train around the first team while continuing to play regularly for the reserve side. Barcelona could choose to use him as their back-up striker next season.
That feels like the sensible approach, allowing Flick to evaluate him.
However, if the Blaugrana do not want to place the responsibility of replacing Ferran on a young player who still needs consistent minutes, they will have to sign a new number nine like Asllani or Vlahovic.
There is also the option of playing Anthony Gordon or Dani Olmo through the middle, should the situation demand it.
If Ferran stays, the need for another striker becomes less urgent. It remains to be seen how the club handle the situation if the Spaniard ends up leaving.
