Wolves sign winger Rafiki Said from Standard Liege
Wolves have completed the signing of left winger Rafiki Said from Belgian club Standard Liege for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old joins the team on a three-year contract, which includes an option to extend for a further 12 months.
The arrival of Said marks the first transfer under the leadership of new head coach Cesar Peixoto. He becomes the third player to join the Wanderers during this transfer window, following the recent acquisitions of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.
During his single season in the Belgian top flight, Said recorded eight goals and five assists across 37 appearances.
The Comoros international began his senior career at French club Brest in September 2021. Before his move to Belgium last summer, he also had spells at Nimes and Troyes. On the international stage, Said has scored eight goals in 21 appearances and played every minute for Comoros during their Africa Cup of Nations campaign last December.
“He’s a fast player and one-versus-one running is a very important characteristic for us, so he’s one player more to help us build a big family and team to fight,” Peixoto told the club website.
“He’s a strong guy, quick and athletic. He has the capacity, quality and mentality to adapt and help the team to improve, to win games and do things in the right way.”
