Lionel Messi Presents Match-Worn Shirt to Italian Icon Roberto Baggio

Greatness recently recognized greatness when Lionel Messi met Italian legend Roberto Baggio. Following Argentina’s quarter-final victory over Switzerland in the early hours of Sunday morning, Messi presented the former forward with his match-worn shirt.

Baggio attended the match in Kansas City to watch Argentina beat Switzerland 3-1 in extra-time. With this result, the team secured a spot in the 2026 World Cup semi-final for the third time in the last four tournaments.

After the full-time whistle, Baggio posed for an iconic photograph alongside Lionel Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and widely regarded greatest player of all time. During the meeting, Messi gifted the Italian star his match-worn jersey.

Baggio later shared his appreciation on Instagram, posting a photo where he appeared all smiles. “Thank you, Leo, for your precious gift and for your affection. I love you lots, my friend,” Baggio wrote.
