Independiente del Valle twin brothers Edwin and Holger Quintero remain committed to joining Arsenal when they turn 18 in August 2027. For now, they continue their development with IDV in Ecuador.
Edwin Quintero made his senior debut as a substitute last week, marking the occasion with an impressive goal.
With IDV leading 3-0, Quintero received the ball on the right flank before threading a pass through the defensive lines to Hugo Quintana.
Quintana returned the ball into Quintero’s path. The future Arsenal winger raced into the penalty area, utilized a ball roll to evade a defender, and fired a shot into the net for his first senior goal. The footage is available here or at the 13:23 timestamp below.
Observers noted Quintero’s patchy haircut during the match, which contrasted with the full head of hair he sported when he signed with Arsenal in December.
According to talkSPORT, the style is part of a South American football tradition where academy players receive a mandatory haircut as a rite of passage to humble them upon their first-team debut.

Holger Quintero currently awaits his senior debut, though he appeared in the IDV first-team squad for their Copa Ecuador victory against Deportivo Santo Domingo earlier this week.
Holger also earned the Player of the Tournament award at the Liam Brady Cup at Hale End in May, highlighting the potential of both brothers before their eventual arrival in north London.
