The Premier League confirmed in June that Mikel Arteta’s son, Gabriel, signed scholarship terms with the club. The league included the teenager on its ‘retained list’ for players under contract with Arsenal beyond June 30th.
Although the 17-year-old now meets the age requirements for a professional contract, he currently remains on a scholarship deal in north London.

Arteta Jr. made a couple of appearances for the Arsenal U17s last season, participating in a 1-1 friendly draw with Shrewsbury Town and a 3-3 Premier League Cup draw against Watford in October.
The teenage winger later moved up to the U18 squad in April and May, where he recorded four appearances in the U18 Premier League.

The youngster previously joined Arsenal pre-season training camps, though his involvement in 2023 involved helping out the coaching staff rather than training as a player.

Arsenal utilizes rotated squads for the Premier League Cup and friendly matches, providing natural opportunities for developing players. However, the progression to competitive U18 fixtures, the signing of a scholarship deal, and current training with the U21s indicate that the 17-year-old may secure further opportunities with the U18 side this season.
