Liverpool Target Mexican Prodigy Gilberto Mora
Journalist Pete O’Rourke reports that Liverpool have set their sights on Club Tijuana playmaker Gilberto Mora. Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke noted that the Premier League club is monitoring the Mexican talent.
“It won’t just be Liverpool who are interested in Mora, you’ve probably got all of Europe’s big guns who would be interested in the Mexican prodigy,” O’Rourke said. “He’s one of the breakout stars of the World Cup. Liverpool are one of those clubs who’ve registered an interest in Mora, and are keeping tabs on Mora.”
O’Rourke added that competition for the midfielder is expected to be intense. “Real Madrid are interested in him, you’ve got Barcelona, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich. If there’s any indication that he is ready to make a move, I’m sure you’ll have all those big teams after him. It’s going to be an open race for Mora right now, and because he’s so highly rated and one of the best young players in world football right now, you’ll have all the biggest clubs in the world trying to sign him.”
Mora’s Impressive Rise In Mexican Football
Mora enjoyed a strong run of form during the previous campaign. The 17-year-old scored ten goals and provided two assists in 53 appearances across all competitions for the Mexican club.
As one of the most gifted playmakers in his homeland, it is no surprise that Liverpool are showing interest in recruiting him this off-season. However, with his current contract at Club Tijuana set to expire in 2029, a cut-price deal for the teenager appears unlikely this summer.
Liverpool Have Set Their Sights On Mora: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Mora demonstrates the ability to shoot with precision from long range and possesses the vision to deliver decisive passes near the opponent’s penalty area. As a capable dribbler, he contributes both as a scorer and a playmaker. While he primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, he can also operate as a left-sided winger or a striker. Some concerns remain regarding his ability to adapt to the physical demands and high intensity of Premier League football.
Integrating Mora would likely bolster the attack for Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola in the long term. The 17-year-old holds the potential to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club. Given his status as a generational talent, he remains a prospect to watch, and Iraola may look to recruit him during this transfer period.
