Gideon Mensah, 27, completed a move to FC Koln on Saturday following his departure from AJ Auxerre. The Ghana international joins the German club on a free transfer.

Mensah arrived at Auxerre from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. Across four seasons, he recorded 114 appearances for the Bourgogne side. He played a significant role in the club’s promotion to Ligue 1 in 2024 and remained a vital member of Christophe Pélissier’s squad, helping the team maintain its top-flight status over the past two seasons.

The defender chose to depart after his contract expired this summer, opting to begin a new chapter in Germany. He has signed a two-year deal with FC Koln. The Ghana international enters this move following strong performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he notably helped Ghana secure a clean sheet against England during the Group Stage.
