Jude Bellingham Faces Confrontation After England’s Loss to Argentina
Following Argentina’s 2-1 victory over England, Jude Bellingham reacted to the defeat with visible frustration. The 23-year-old England midfielder engaged in a heated exchange with several players shortly after the final whistle.
As Bellingham stood near a group of celebrating Argentinian players, he walked over and slapped Valentín Barco, one of Argentina’s reserves, on the back of the head. It remains unclear if any remarks from Barco provoked this incident, but it escalated into a confrontation involving players from both teams.

Footage from Spanish outlet Diario AS captured the moment Bellingham hit Barco, and he needed to be restrained by multiple teammates.
This was not the only instance of Bellingham’s frustrations boiling over. Earlier in the match, he had engaged in apparent trash talk with Lionel Messi. After Argentina scored during the second minute of stoppage time, Bellingham exchanged words with Rodrigo De Paul in the center circle.
Despite being impressive throughout the tournament, Bellingham struggled on Wednesday, recording zero shots or chances created, and did not manage any touches in Argentina’s penalty area. He also endured several tough tackles, including one from Messi that went uncalled.

It remains uncertain whether Bellingham will face disciplinary action for his postgame behavior. England is scheduled to play France in the third-place match on Saturday, but Bellingham’s availability may be at risk if FIFA imposes sanctions against him.
