FA Backs England Coach Thomas Tuchel Following World Cup Exit
England head coach Thomas Tuchel maintains the support of the Football Association and is set to lead the team into Euro 2028.
A 2-1 defeat by Argentina on Wednesday resulted in England missing their first World Cup final appearance since 1966.

Tuchel faced criticism for his substitutions as England relinquished a 1-0 lead late in the match, but he has the unwavering support of FA chief executive Mark Bullingham.
The German signed a two-year contract extension in February after being appointed in January 2025 for an 18-month goal of winning the World Cup.
The 2028 European Championship finals will be co-hosted by England, Wales, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland, and Tuchel sees leading the team into a home tournament as a significant opportunity.
England is set to confront France in the bronze-medal match on Saturday (22:00 BST), and a win would mark their best performance in a men’s World Cup since 1966.

“It is heartbreaking to be so close,” noted Bullingham.
“The players and Thomas gave it everything today, and the squad, coaches, and staff could not have worked harder during the tournament.”
“I would like to thank them all – and also extend my heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful fans both here in the USA and at home.”
Despite the disappointment of exiting in the semi-finals, England’s progress will be regarded as a relative success.
In his post-match news conference in Atlanta, Tuchel stated: “We keep on going with the contract until the home Euros.
“I’m looking forward to that, even though right now it’s difficult to look that far ahead.”

“Of course, it’s a semi-final; many prestigious football nations are eliminated before this stage, so it is an achievement.
“No one wants to hear that at the moment; neither do I because we demand the most of ourselves. That’s just the nature of being competitive.”
