Arsenal Set to Pursue Athletic Bilbao Winger Nico Williams This Summer
In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Arsenal are preparing to move in for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. The Gunners intend to make a fresh approach to sign the Spain international and bring him to the Emirates Stadium this off-season.
Williams’ Impressive Form In La Liga
Williams managed to shine at times on the left side of Athletic Bilbao’s attack last season. The Spanish talent scored six times and provided seven assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

The 24-year-old is currently among the best wide players in La Liga, making Arsenal’s interest in him unsurprising this summer.
His current contract at San Mames Stadium extends until the summer of 2035, potentially complicating Arsenal’s chances of securing him at a reduced price this off-season.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go For Williams?
Williams can use his quickness to overcome defenders in wide areas. He possesses the vision to make decisive passes in the final third and is adept at dribbling with the ball at his feet.

The Spanish sensation can strike the ball with power from long distances and contributes by scoring and assisting key goals for his team. Williams primarily plays as a left-sided winger but can also adapt to a right-wing role if needed. However, there are some doubts regarding his ability to adjust to the physical and high-tempo nature of the Premier League should the Gunners secure his services this summer.
Expectations are that Williams would add more attacking options for Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta. He has the capability to contend for a regular starting position at the Emirates Stadium next season.
At 24, Williams is entering his prime, making him a valuable target for the Gunners during this transfer window. Acquiring him would assist the North London club in competing across all fronts in the coming years. Thus, Arteta would be wise to pursue a winger with Williams’ abilities soon.
