Arsenal Youth Player Trains with First Team Following Senior International Call-Up

Arsenal Winger James Scanlon Receives Training Call-Up and International Selection

Ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming match against Hull City, 20-year-old winger James Scanlon trained with Mikel Arteta’s senior squad on Friday.

With Arsenal facing a shortage of wingers due to Bukayo Saka being sidelined by injury and Max Dowman‘s suspension, Scanlon’s impressive performance has earned him this opportunity. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in his first five appearances for the Premier League 2 team.

In addition to his training with the Gunners, Scanlon received a call-up to the Gibraltar senior squad for the upcoming November international break.

Scanlon has had significant experience with Gibraltar, making 28 appearances and becoming the nation’s second-highest all-time goal scorer with six goals, trailing only retired Liam Walker, who netted eight times.

During the international break, Scanlon will have the chance to increase his tally with matches against Andorra and Malta.

Despite this week’s achievements, it is improbable that Scanlon will join the first-team squad for Saturday’s match against Hull City. Arsenal is experiencing limited availability in their forward positions, but Saka and Dowman are the only expected absences. Most of the senior squad is fit, leaving minimal room for youth players on the bench.
