Alex Scott Rejects New Contract with Bournemouth Amid Premier League Interest

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has rejected a new contract, amid increasing interest from various Premier League clubs in the England Under-21 international.

The Cherries have made it a priority this summer to secure Scott to fresh terms, yet no agreement has been reached as of now.

This development occurs alongside interest from top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

BBC Sport reported in June that Arsenal had a bid for Scott turned down by Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for £25m, and he currently has two years remaining on his contract with the Premier League team.

Scott was selected in his first England squad last November and subsequently attended Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, although he has yet to make a senior international appearance.

This summer’s Premier League midfielder market is particularly busy, with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers both set to finalize transfers to Manchester City and Chelsea for £116m and £117m, respectively.

In the meantime, Tottenham has invested £100m in Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and £85m on West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.

Scott joined Bristol City from Guernsey FC in 2020, amassing 91 appearances for the Championship side across all competitions.

He earned the title of the division’s young player of the season in 2022-23 before moving to Bournemouth, where he has made 89 appearances and scored six goals.

Scott contributed to Bournemouth’s sixth-place finish in 2025-26 under manager Andoni Iraola, helping the club qualify for the Europa League for the first time in its history.
