Burnley Appoints Jackie Bachteler as New Manager Ahead of Barclays WSL2 Season
Burnley FC has announced the appointment of Jackie Bachteler as their new manager, ahead of their inaugural season in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (WSL2). The club revealed the news through an official press release earlier today.
According to reports, Bachteler will be supported by Ross Wallace, while Ashley Vickers and Jordan Booth will continue in their coaching positions.
The 37-year-old Bachteler brings a wealth of experience from various coaching roles across the globe, having worked with clubs in the United States, Finland, Spain, Cyprus, Costa Rica, and Sweden. With her extensive network and knowledge, she aims to assist Burnley as they strive for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Following her appointment, Bachteler expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m really happy to be here. I want to be part of the community here. Being at the final game of last season against Stoke City and seeing more than 1,000 people there was great. I look forward to growing that fanbase together, with the supporters showing their excitement towards this project.”
She added, “They’re going to see an organised team that’s very physical, very positive, and forward-thinking in trying to create opportunities for players within the women’s game. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.”
In addition to leading Burnley in WSL2, Bachteler will also maintain her role as a scout for the United States women’s national team.
