Burton Albion has accepted 28 breaches of agent regulations after being charged by the Football Association (FA). The charges stem from the League One club’s transfer business in 2024, during which 47 players moved in and out of the club, including a new British record of 23 players recruited in a single transfer window.

June’s charge has drawn attention to these transactions.

Agent Conor Hayden was also charged, as was first reported by the BBC in July 2025, regarding 25 player “transactions” that took place during the summer while the club was under the ownership of the Sweden-based Nordic Football Group (NFG).

Burton, which narrowly avoided relegation from the third tier in 2024-25, had outsourced its transfer dealings to Hayden during that summer.

Last month, the FA stated that Hayden “allegedly concealed and/or misrepresented the reality and/or substance of these transactions so that it was not declared that he had acted for the club.”

Throughout that entire campaign, Hayden participated in a total of 43 deals conducted by Burton, including the transaction that brought manager Gary Bowyer to the club in December 2024.

In a formal statement, Burton confirmed they had responded to the charges and “would continue to update supporters on the progress of the case.”
